Who Are We?

My name is Ramya, and I work in the field of neurology. My sister Dhanya is a computer engineer. For much of our lives, my sister and I were rather distant from politics. However, like many Americans, we became very inspired by Bernie Sanders during the 2016 election, and this opened our eyes to many of the problems plaguing our country. We stumbled upon The Young Turks, and many of the progressive ideas pronounced on the show aligned with our own values. These ideas were in stark contrast with mainstream media, and it was refreshing for my sister and me to hear honest, intelligent analyses of the contentious political issues of the time. This sparked a great deal of curiosity in us, particularly on foreign policy and economic issues, and we set out to learn as much as we could about the complex political atmosphere of our country. We have since branched out to other progressive YouTube channels that more closely resonated with us, including Secular Talk, The Jimmy Dore Show, and The Hill's Rising (with Krystal and Saagar, who have now left The Hill and started their own channel Breaking Points), which today serve as our primary inspiration in political thought.
